Gold Tears was both a personal challenge and a material study focused on recycling and reuse within the wood and metal shops during my final year of college. The project began after I observed the significant amount of discarded materials—offcuts, unused supplies, and abandoned projects—routinely thrown away in the shops. In response, I set a constraint for myself: to create a finished piece in one week using only the leftover materials available.

Throughout the process, I limited cutting to instances where edges were too jagged or pieces did not fit together properly, allowing the original forms to guide the design. This constraint pushed me to think creatively and resourcefully, ultimately resulting in the creation of this side table.

Gold Tears is more than just a functional object—it serves as a visual statement on the potential of overlooked materials. It embodies the idea that every piece, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant, has the potential to contribute to something greater—if not today, then someday.
