During my time abroad in Japan, I participated in an intensive 6-day bamboo weaving workshop led by a local craft club in Chiba. The course covered the full process—from harvesting and stripping raw bamboo, to carving and weaving it into form. Through this hands-on experience, I gained a deep understanding of how material quality and technique directly influence the outcome, reinforcing the importance of craft, precision, and cultural context in design.
